Inside the Studio: The Creation of an Uninterrupted Flow State

The following is the audio-only version of this blog, in case you’d rather listen to it in place of reading.

How many times today have your thoughts ‘left the station’ due to multi-tasking while people, assuming you’re not busy, zip into your thought-space? Or worse, those thoughts from the train all unload right at bedtime.

Hasn’t anyone figured out how to stop the train?

Yes. Take the next train, number 432. It will be an eleven-minute-and-eleven-second imaginary scenic ride, arriving in the town of tranquility.

This article will take you ‘Inside the Studio’ with composer Pam Green. She reveals why she experimented with the 432 Hz frequency, often called “Verdi’s A” or the “Natural Tuning of the Universe,” to compose Tune to Tranquility.

Feels Right in My Soul

Interviewer: Your composition Tune to Tranquility is musically distinct from your first Healing Vibes Collective composition, Tune to Joy . For example, it lacks percussion or a driving beat. What was your reason for composing this song without percussion?

Pam: I aimed to create a song suitable for yoga teachers, massage therapists, and individuals seeking music to enhance focus, find grounding, or relax and sleep. I often pick up my acoustic guitar and let calming music flow through my fingers to soothe myself. It felt natural to craft a composition to soothe others.

Interviewer: We’ve discussed using various frequencies in previous blogs, for example, “Singing Bowls: What’s their Superpower?” Or “The Power of Pulse-less Music: Finding Stillness in 432 Hz Resonance.” And Tune to Joy was composed using the Solfeggio frequency of 528 Hz, whereas Tune to Tranquility is composed using 432 Hz. Were you looking to experiment with frequencies, or what was your purpose in changing to 432 Hz?

Pam: I noticed that when I sought music to alleviate emotions or to feel better, I would choose music tuned to 432 Hz time and time again because I find it beautiful and it just feels right in my soul. I researched the many benefits of music tuned to 432 Hz. My intention was to write this song to help balance the Root Chakra. I accomplished this by combining the 432 Hz with a crystal singing bowl tuned to the key of C. In 432 Hz tuning, the C vibrates at 256 Hz, which is the Scientific Pitch.

Honoring Divine Guidance

Interviewer: What was your biggest challenge in composing Tune to Tranquility?

Pam: I had never written a song with no rhythm or beat. This song also has no pattern, like verse/chorus/bridge. Layering the instruments and adding synth effects into this eleven-minute song without any guide, as a rhythm track or a pattern would offer, was like driving at night on a dark road. I thought that the journey would be easy and quick to complete. Ha! What I thought would be a few days turned into nearly a month. But I will lovingly craft a composition, making sure it’s just right, no matter what it takes.

Interviewer: Your efforts sure paid off on this one, Pam. Interestingly, Tune to Tranquility is 11 minutes and 11 seconds in length. Was numerology involved in your choice of length? Can you expand on your reasoning, if so?

Pam: Yes, numerology was involved. A friend of mine told me that my personal number in numerology is 11, which is the first Master Number. The number eleven is often called “The Illuminator,” as it represents a high-vibrational portal to spiritual enlightenment, signifying a life path or destiny driven by a profound spiritual purpose. I’ve always loved numbers, and I personally see 111 and 1111 all of the time.  These were the first numbers I kept seeing repeated every time I composed music, and it touched my soul in the process.  I felt it only fitting to compose Tune to Tranquility at the length of 11:11 to honor this divine guidance.

Interviewer: When you composed Tune to Tranquility, what did you want the listener to experience?

Pam: My intention was to help balance the Root Chakra. Balancing the Root Chakra is so important that I made this short video to introduce you to some aspects of the Root Chakra, and Tune to Tranquility is the music accompanying the video, as an added Root Chakra benefit.

Instrumentation and Misinterpretation

Interviewer: What instrumentation was involved in this composition, and did you play all the instruments or use AI-generated music?

Pam: I played all the instruments without AI.  There were pianos and my keyboard that simulates orchestral instruments, including strings and brass, as well as bells and chimes. I also used various synth sounds that I felt sounded like a choir of voices. A few people told me this song sounds like going to Heaven.

Interviewer: What is a fun fact that you want to share about the making of Tune to Tranquility?

Pam: I shake my head every time this topic comes up. I thought the sound of rustling leaves would add an ambient layer of serenity. I experimented with dozens of sounds until the leaves sounded perfect. In feedback, people tell me the rain sounds in the song are wonderful. Geez. And, all that work. But I’m happy they love it.

Interviewer: Thank you for this enlightening interview. We look forward to the next Inside the Studio segment, in which you will discuss your latest release, Walking in a Painting!
