Inside the Studio: Moving Pictures, Healing Soundscapes

The following is the audio-only version of this blog, in case you’d rather listen to it in place of reading.

“‘Walking in a Painting’” doesn’t announce itself — it draws you in slowly, the way light changes in a room without you noticing until the whole atmosphere has shifted.” ~~ A review by Tori Bence.

This article expands on the last blog, “Integrating Soundscapes into Your Daily Wellness Routine,” and features Pam Green discussing her latest piece, ‘Walking in a Painting.‘ While Pam shares her insights, she also wanted to give others room to reflect on their reactions to the song.

We continue Tori’s review: “Built around fluid electric guitars and live groove instrumentation, the track moves with a kind of easy confidence — rhythmic and grounded, but never restless. Piano threads through the spaces in between, and underneath it all, 432 Hz crystal singing bowls hum at a frequency that settles somewhere behind the sternum.

The result is something genuinely hard to categorize. Cinematic without being dramatic. Uplifting without being loud. Listeners keep reaching for words like joyful, calming, transporting — which feels right, because this is music that doesn’t demand your attention so much as quietly earns it.”

The following statements are from CR Indie: “The piece conveys the sensation of walking inside a painting, of becoming lost in colors and shapes that transform into emotions. Each instrument contributes a different shade: the guitars draw melodic lines that feel like brushstrokes, the piano adds depth, and the crystal bowls create a vibration that connects with the spiritual.”

Interviewer: The accolades for this song must be heartwarming. ‘Walking in a Painting’ is a completely different kind of composition compared to your other two releases, ‘Tune to Joy’ and ‘Tune to Tranquility.’ What was your purpose in going in this different direction?

Pam: Each composition is an opportunity to explore a different emotional landscape while still staying true to the healing intention behind Healing Vibes Collective. ‘Walking in a Painting’ gave me the freedom to be more cinematic, more rhythmic, and more adventurous, while still using frequency-aware sound and creating a space that feels uplifting and restorative.

Interviewer: Can you share more about your vision for this song?

Pam:Walking in a Painting‘ was conceived as a cinematic instrumental journey—music that moves through changing emotional landscapes rather than staying in one place. I wanted the listener to feel as though they were traveling through a series of scenes, with different colors and emotions emerging along the way.

The arrangement brings together electric and acoustic guitars, piano, bass, drums, synth textures, singing bowls, and a wordless female vocal. It begins in a reflective space, gradually grows into a fuller rhythmic section, then opens into an uplifting bridge before returning to its original atmosphere.

My vision was to create something calming and immersive – music with movement, color, and emotional lift.

Interviewer: You’ve accomplished your vision. Please share how this music can add to a person’s healing.

Pam: People hold varying views on music’s healing effects, while ongoing research continues to explore its potential therapeutic benefits. I have personally experienced the healing effects music can have on my body and spirit; however, its effects are subjective.

Each person decides how music affects them; however, it begins with how the music is designed. For example, ‘Walking in a Painting‘ is composed primarily in A minor and incorporates a 432 Hz singing bowl in its opening and overall tonal atmosphere. In the bridge, the music shifts to C major and introduces a 256 Hz C-pitched singing bowl, creating a brighter color shift before returning to its original landscape.

Those frequencies are part of the composition’s sound design and artistic intention, but the experience also comes from the melody, rhythm, instrumentation, and movement of the piece. The music’s intention is to support calm, presence, and emotional reflection. Ultimately, the healing power of music lies in how it affects each listener personally.

Interviewer: True words, and you are getting impressive worldwide attention with the song being played in over 40 countries! For example, this article, published by CR Indie, is from Costa Rica: Healing Vibes Collective and the Walking in a Painting immersion,” in which one section states, “Healing Vibes Collective distinguishes itself by integrating elements of conscious sound design, using frequencies such as 432 Hz to enhance emotional connection. In ‘Walking in a Painting’, that intention is clearly perceived: it is a work that invites you to stop, breathe, and let yourself be enveloped by a soundscape that heals and transforms.”

Pam: I am thrilled with the review by CR Indie. Equally exciting, the Music Blog ‘Thoughts Words Action’ featured ‘Walking in a Painting’ in their article, “Healing Vibes Collective Releases Peaceful Single: ‘Walking In A Painting.’”

This peaceful track is the latest release from Florida-based composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Pam Green, perfectly reflecting her “music first, healing intention second” philosophy. Enhancing the restorative listening experience, Green incorporates the resonant tones of 432 Hz and 256 Hz crystal singing bowls directly into the composition. Created specifically for moments of calm, creative focus, and reflective walking, ‘Walking in a Painting’ provides a transporting sonic atmosphere that serves as the perfect remedy for a stressful day.”

Interviewer: Another example to your point is the Moon Phase Radio’s review titled, “Healing Vibes Collective Releases Cinematic Instrumental Single ‘Walking in a Painting’, now playing on M.P.R. Chill,” where it states, “Created for reflective walking, focused listening, creative work, and moments of calm, the single reflects Healing Vibes Collective’s approach: music first, with healing intention thoughtfully embedded in the sound.”  And then states, “The official music video closes with a resonant strike of the red C bowl filmed on the beach.”

So, tell us about the video.

Pam: This was the first music video I released through a distributor, and one requirement was that all of the footage be original. That became the starting point for figuring out how to bring the music and imagery together.

Nikki Ott, a friend and contributor to Healing Vibes Collective, loves spending time in nature and has invited me on several excursions around Florida. We both kept our cameras ready during those outings, capturing whatever caught our attention along the way. There’s something joyful and often intoxicating about being out in nature and discovering a beautiful scene as it unfolds.

Those moments became the video’s visual foundation. The footage is filled with the kinds of Florida scenes that inspired the song in the first place, so the imagery and music grew together very naturally.

Interviewer: What a fantastic way to combine nature and adventure with music. How did videos from your phones wind up in the official video?

Pam: Ah, well, there’s a program for that! I used Final Cut Pro to bring all of those scenes together and shape them around the music. Nikki and I edited the footage, chose the moments that best matched the song’s mood and movement of the song, and built the final video from there. It was really rewarding to see those nature adventures become part of the finished visual story.

Interviewer: That’s even more impressive. From composer to recording engineer to producer to video design and editing.

Pam: Thank you. For me, all of those roles are really part of the same purpose. I truly feel that creating this music is part of fulfilling my life’s purpose. My work holds significance beyond the music itself if something I create brings a sense of peace, joy, encouragement, or reflection into someone’s life.

I was deeply surprised to realize how significantly the creative process impacted me. When I’m in physical pain and begin composing, the pain often goes away. I can’t explain exactly why, but it has become a meaningful part of my own experience with creating this music. I see that as part of my own personal experience with the music, not as a medical claim.

The joy I experience while creating, and knowing that the music may also have a positive effect on someone else, is deeply fulfilling to me. I strive to craft music that resonates personally with each listener, allowing everyone to form a meaningful individual experience.

Interviewer: You have many wonderful comments on the video on your YouTube channel, and any reader who would like to comment is welcome to do so. A reviewer, Fran Susca, said, “Dreamcatcher, trees, flowers, sun, moon, clouds, sandcastles, oceans, beaches, birds, ducks, and amazing colors! Then the relaxing music to go with everything.”

Pam: (laughs) Yes, it really is a kind of imagery soup. We have all of those elements, along with moonrises and sunrises, sunsets, dog walking, beach strolling, and people simply enjoying a beautiful day in the park. They’re the kinds of moments you might find captured in an expressive painting, which made the images feel like a natural fit for the song.

Interviewer: It sounds like a ‘Must-See’ video. Readers can watch the Official Video here.

Interviewer: The video features an orange picture frame around the images. Watching the video is like having moving pictures in a photo frame.

Pam: Exactly. We selected orange to mirror the hues of Florida sunsets, and my nephew created the animated frame.

The title actually came to me earlier this year during one of my sunrise walks on the beach here in Florida. Every morning has its own fingerprint of color, and those colors keep changing as I walk. I’m always grateful to be there, and it truly feels as though I’m walking through a painting.

As the ideas for the video came together and I was finishing the composition, that feeling became the visual concept too. That’s when ‘Walking in a Painting‘ really came to life.

Interviewer: That brings us to your first composition, entitled “Tune to Joy,” and to the interview you gave, titled Inside the Studio: How 528Hz Inspired Authentic Joy.”

Pam: Yes. In that article I said, “I started reading about Solfeggio frequencies on various websites and learned that certain musical intervals, chord progressions, and frequencies may support healing. I then began composing with those ideas in mind.”

As I worked, I felt the music affecting me personally in a very positive way. I’m not suggesting that I experienced some kind of medical miracle. For me, healing is often gradual. It comes in waves, it ebbs and flows, and it takes time—much like music itself.

Interviewer: Music, waves, flow. Beautiful. Then, an 11-minute, 11-second ambient instrumental, created without percussion or a traditional rhythmic pulse, was your second composition. Piano, orchestral textures, bells, chimes, synthesizers, and singing bowls unfold gradually in a continuous soundscape centered on stillness and spacious listening.

Pam: You are describing “Tune to Tranquility.” That song became a most interesting song to compose and produce. I share my experience in the interview blog titled Inside the Studio: The Creation of an Uninterrupted Flow State.”

Interviewer: Pam, it’s been enjoyable hearing about the making of ‘Walking in a Painting.’ What’s next for Healing Vibes Collective?

Pam: There’s a new song in the works, with its own unique sound and feel, where the frequencies reach all seven Chakras. Let me entice you further by saying there are surprises in the song around every corner.

Interviewer: I’m sure your listeners will be excited when it is released. Do you have a release date yet?

Pam: Check back on my website or leave a comment below on this blog to be notified about the release date.

Interviewer: Thank you for this interview. We will conclude with additional accolades from CR Indie.

“For those looking to discover new and authentic music, this project offers an experience that goes beyond the conventional. ‘Walking in a Painting’ is a reminder that music can be a refuge, a space where time dissolves, and the soul finds a place to renew itself.”
